Ravenswell
Ravenswell is a registered charity working throughout Cornwall to relieve the suffering of wildlife in need of care and attention and, in particular, to provide and maintain a rescue home for their reception, care and treatment. We also aim to provide information to the public about animal welfare.
We currently have 6 ‘rescue’ owls and Branwen, a raven, and have reached the point where we can set up a headquarters. We now need a cabin to start a small hospital unit until the big hospital is built.
Our in-house trained captive bred rescued birds are available for public events to enhance public appreciation of these beautiful birds and help us fund-raise. They are also available for private events such as weddings and other family celebrations.

We also aim to:
- Compile a network of people who take on the care of wild animals in Cornwall. This list is vital to provide a network of contact points, for us all; linking up the right rescue, with the right wild animal casualty and eliminating as much stress as possible for the animal. There are very few contacts listed on the BWRC (British Wildlife Rescue Council) so how do the Cornish people find help and advice quickly? By having an established register it will help to eliminate the stress wild animals experience, getting the help they need quickly. And importantly enable wildlife rescues to share expert knowledge with each other.
- Provide bursary support where needed for the wild animal rescue community. We are working on a funding bursary, to help rehabilitation units in Cornwall and all those who work tirelessly with very little funding helping our wild creatures.
- Set up a wildlife teaching hospital, with in-situ veterinary help for Cornwall. Many of our wild animals after the trauma of being injured, abandoned or sick, have to go through the further stress of being transported out of the county or travelling many miles to find a specialist wildlife veterinary hospital because we do not have one in Cornwall.
Ravenswell also hopes to facilitate workshops in specialist care with professional people, lectures and public information days. Currently workshops for wildlife workers are usually held outside Cornwall, making it very expensive to attend.
Having a centre in Cornwall will help us all!
